Women's Championship Match Set For WWE SmackDown In Two Weeks

Iyo Sky will defend her WWE Women's Championship on SmackDown

Asuka will finally look to seek out some redemption, getting her rematch for the WWE Women’s Championship that she lost in a triple threat match at SummerSlam 2023. Bianca Belair picked up the victory, but her title reign was cut short immediately by Iyo Sky, who cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the gold.

All those involved in that triple threat match have kept in contention for the gold, and it has been announced that Asuka will have a one-on-one match with Sky for the title in two weeks time, on the September 22 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Asuka made her intentions known on last night’s edition of the blue brand’s show, grabbing Iyo Sky’s title to distract her during a tag team match in which Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Bayley) lost to Charlotte Flair and Shotzi. Later in the show, Asuka and Sky got into a confrontation backstage in which they agreed to a match for the championship.
