Women's Title Match & More Set For WWE SmackDown: New Year's Revolution

Iyo Sky puts her WWE Women's Championship on the line in two weeks

WWE SmackDown on January 5 will host “New Year’s Revolution”, which looks set to be a big TV special featuring a lot of important and high profile matches. It brings back a PPV name that hasn’t been seen for one and a half decades - this is something Triple H had a history of doing in NXT.

The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line at the show, as Iyo Sky defends her gold against Michin. This title match was announced following a shock result on last night’s Friday Night SmackDown. WWE held a “Holiday Havoc” eight-woman tag team match which saw the babyface team of Michin, Bianca Belair, Shotzi, and Zelina Vega defeat Iyo Sky, Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Bayley of Damage CTRL. It wasn’t an entirely clean win, as the returning Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn showed up to attack Asuka and Kairi Sane, allowing Michin the advantage to put Sky through a table and pin her. Putting the champion’s shoulders to the mat earned her a shot at the belt, and it will come at SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution.

Elsewhere, Butch's growing issues with Pretty Deadly will see him battle the duo at the January 5 event, and with the loss of his tag team partner in Ridge Holland, he will pick a mystery name to join forces with him.
