Wrestle Kingdom 17 Draws Record Viewership For NJPW World

Record numbers for NJPW World due to Wrestle Kingdom 17

Wrestle Kingdom 17 drew a big audience for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. 

The promotion have revealed that the January 4 show drew a viewership of 92,409 unique live viewers on NJPW World, a record for the streaming service since it was established in 2014. NJPW noted that 30% of those watching either had to wake up early or watched Wrestle Kingdom 17's English feed through the night. 

A crowd of 26,085 were in attendance inside the Tokyo Dome, which was the biggest audience for a Wrestle Kingdom show since before the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Wrestle Kingdom 17 featured multiple major matches, including an early match-of-the-year contender between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay. Kazuchika Okada then sent the fans home happy as he defeated Jay White to regain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. The show has received praise from across the wrestling world.

Fans not subscribed to NJPW World in the United States will be able to watch Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay on AXS TV on Thursday, January 12.
