The pro wrestling rumour mill continues to turn, and it has been confirmed there will be a WWE Title match at Wrestlepalooza after the match was up in the air last week. There is also an update on Andrade's current absence from WWE programming, while ROH Death Before Dishonor was moved so Tony Khan could attend MJF and Alicia Atout's wedding.
Pro wrestling rumours for Monday, September 8, 2025:
A WWE Title match at Wrestlepalooza was up in the air last week, possibly due to Cody Rhodes' filming schedule for the Street Fighter movie in which he is featured as Guile.
It was noted that Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre would be taking place before Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Title. Orton vs. McIntyre has since been announced for Friday's SmackDown and Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Rhodes vs. McIntyre is planned, once again, for Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
"I also want to make mention because this has not been announced, but if you watch SmackDown you probably would have figured it out when they announced they were going to do a Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton match that, in fact, Cody Rhodes is scheduled now for Wrestlepalooza against Drew McIntyre for the championship. The Orton match was going to take place first, but they didn’t know if they would do it on the pay-per-view. I know the Cody thing was up in the air. I presume it was because they didn’t know for a fact that he would be done filming by the 20th. That’s what I was told in the middle of the week, that it’s like if he’s back, he’ll be on the card and if he’s not, it’s gonna be Orton and Drew. It’s Cody and Drew, so that makes that card even stronger," Meltzer said.
MJF and Alicia Atout tied the knot on Friday, September 5 and the wedding was the reason for ROH Death Before Dishonor moving up a week to August 29.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Tony Khan wanted to attend the wedding after being invited and the ROH pay-per-view was moved to ensure he didn't miss Death Before Dishonor.
"Originally, Death Before Dishonor was supposed to be Friday night and they quietly moved it up a week, and it was because Tony Khan wanted to go to Max’s wedding, and Tony Khan is not going to miss a show. So if he’s not going to be there, because they wanted him at the wedding, then in fact there cannot be a show on September 5th. I know a lot of people knew they switched it and didn’t know why," Meltzer said.
Andrade has not wrestled at all for WWE since the Six-Pack TLC Match at SummerSlam which saw the former United States Champion and Rey Fenix fail to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles from the Wyatt Sicks along with the likes of the Motor City Machine Guns, the Street Profits, #DIY, and Fraxiom.
Rey Fenix has not wrestled on SmackDown, but the luchador did wrestle at the August 15 taping of Main Event before teaming with LA Knight against the Wyatt Sicks at house shows in the United Kingdom from August 26 to August 28.
Why exactly Andrade has not been utilised by WWE since August 3 is unknown, but Fightful Select noted he is not listed on WWE's internal injury list.
Monday Night Raw will begin one hour earlier than is tradition in the United States for the September 15, September 22, and September 29 episodes, with the show getting underway at 7 pm ET as opposed to 8 pm.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE and Netflix changed the start time as part of an experiment due to the NFL season, with Raw often going head-to-head with Monday Night Football.
Following the three-week experiment, WWE will make a decision on whether or not to change Raw's start time for the rest of the NFL season.
A factor behind the experiment is Netflix are less concerned about the start time of Raw, as the streaming service simply wants to attract the maximum number of viewers. USA Network, WWE's previous TV partner for Raw, always wanted the show in the 8 pm ET time slot.
The Hardys and Team 3D will call back to WWE Royal Rumble 2000 in one of the headline matches at TNA Bound For Glory.
TNA taped future episodes of IMPACT over the weekend and one of the key segments at the taping saw The Hardys and Team 3D come together to determine the stipulation for their Bound For Glory match.
After plenty of pleasantries, Bully Ray demanded the two teams square off in a Tables Match because he's still upset about The Hardys beating them at Royal Rumble 2000. The two teams shook on the stipulation.
At TNA Bound For Glory on October 12, it will be The Hardys vs. Team 3D in a Tables Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

All Elite Wrestling had cut back on using LED boards for their shows over the past several months, instead preferring to utilise a traditional apron and barricade setup.
Following the beginning of AEW's HBO Max deal in recent weeks, however, the LED boards have returned. This may not be a positive change for the promotion, though, as Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp noted the apron and barricade changes away from LED boards were done due to the safety of the wrestlers and the reaction from the audience.
A number of wrestlers actually got banged up on the LED barricades and aprons, as they are harder than the traditional setup and stick out more. Talent and staff told Fightful they much prefer the traditional barricades, but they understood the visual need for LED boards.
It was recently revealed that "Smart" Mark Sterling is dealing with an injury and Fightful Select has confirmed Sterling's torn biceps is a legitimate issue, as opposed to a worked injury.
Sterling is due to undergo surgery on Thursday to repair the injury. AEW/ROH are hopeful the Premier Athletes manager will be back on TV in just a few weeks. Sterling wouldn't be cleared for physicality, but he would be able to perform.
"Smart" Mark Sterling has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since the summer of 2020, initially serving as MJF's lawyer. Sterling has been the manager of Tony Nese and then the Premier Athletes since December 2021.
Speaking of the Premier Athletes, the faction debuted a new member on the special episode of ROH TV over the weekend as Stori Denali - a new giant - helped Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari defeat Spanish Announce Project.
A former volleyball player from Ohio State, Denali is 6' 3" and uses a chokeslam as her finisher. For comparison, Raquel Rodriguez is 6 feet, and Megan Bayne is 5' 11".
Fightful Select has reported that Tony Khan was very happy with the buzz around Denali's ROH debut.
La Parka will be in action at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide on September 12 as it was announced the luchador will team with Mascarita Sagrada, Octagon Jr. and Nino Hamburguesa against Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, Lince Dorado & Mini Abismo Negro.
WWE used LA Park (the original La Parka) in the graphic for the match, but LA Park has confirmed he won't be at Worlds Collide, tweeting (translated): "You already know how they always put me up there to confuse people, but it's not me, well, the one in the image is me, but I'm not going to go."
The third version of La Parka debuted at AAA Rey de Reyes on Saturday, March 22. The new talent under the mask is Brazo de Oro Jr.
