The rumour mill continues for WWE, AEW and TNA on September 27, 2025. Some of the stories across today include the backstage response to Je’Von Evans, who competed on SmackDown this week, injuries to some names on both the WWE and AEW roster, and contract news for a wrestler in TNA.
Je’Von Evans made a surprise appearance on Friday Night SmackDown this week, answering the open challenge issued by Sami Zayn for the United States Championship as the blue brand headed to the home of NXT in Orlando, Florida.
Evans received a big ovation from the crowd both during his entrance and throughout the match, winning the audience over in defeat. When it comes to how those backstage in WWE viewed the match, Fightful Select revealed some details. It is reported that when Evans came back through after the match, he was handed a warm reception from those watching backstage. This suggests that the young name certainly impressed some of those in WWE.
AEW’s Hologram is undefeated in the company, possessing the promotion’s most dominant current undefeated streak. He was set for his biggest match to date on next week’s six-year anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite, challenging Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Championship. Unfortunately, Hologram has been written off television due to an injury.
Following a segment on AEW Collision last night in which he was ambushed by opponent Kyle Fletcher, Tony Khan took to X to announce that Hologram was now injured and would likely be out of action for the rest of the year.
“Get well soon, @AEWHologram! After an unprovoked attack backstage at #AEWCollision tonight by TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Hologram has significant injuries. We’re all cheering for Hologram + wishing him the best in his recovery. Sadly, Hologram likely is out the rest of 2025.”
Recently returned Orange Cassidy has been announced as Hologram’s replacement for the match.
There have been some worrying reports circulating when it comes to injured WWE star Piper Niven, with it being suggested that the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has an injury that could end her career. Fightful Select have revealed a few more details regarding Niven’s status.
It is noted that those in WWE are not aware of how bad the injury is as of yet, and due to the nature of it being neck-related, there are those worried about her in-ring future. However, people close to her are reportedly hopeful that she’ll be back at some point, though a return isn’t expected any time soon. Her injury is said to be one that others have come back from in the past.
Following his release from WWE earlier this year, Cedric Alexander has been showing up and competing in TNA. However, there were no details available on whether Alexander was officially a TNA talent, or if he was just working the odd dates here and there while not being a fully-contracted name, especially since many in TNA do not have a full-time deal. Fightful Select has some clarification on the matter.
It has been learned that Alexander has in fact signed officially with TNA, though there are no details at this time over the length of his contract with the promotion. It is also noted that any chances of Alexander joining The Hurt Syndicate in AEW are currently not on the table.
