Unlike in the summer of 2025, Seth Rollins is legitimately injured following his match with Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel. WWE have seen a silver lining in the World Heavyweight Champion getting injured, however.
There is concern within the WWE roster over Ridge Holland's contract being allowed to expire while he is out of action for several months with an injury that he suffered while wrestling for TNA as part of WWE's partnership with the Anthem-owned promotion. Def Rebel, meanwhile, are in their final contracts with WWE.
Pro wrestling rumours for October 15, 2025:
Seth Rollins is legitimately injured, having sustained a shoulder injury while landing the coast-to-coast head butt at Crown Jewel during his match with Cody Rhodes.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Rollins is expected to undergo shoulder surgery as soon as possible, and the expectation is he will be out of action for several months.
PWInsider also noted that some within WWE believe Rollins requires shoulder or rotator cuff surgery, although others are taking a "wait and see" approach due to the worked injury angle which led to Rollins' Money in the Bank cash-in earlier this year.
That situation left many within WWE feeling lied to and damaged morale within the organisation, especially since they believed it was for a moment that didn't make sense to them in the story WWE was telling.
Seth Rollins' injury isn't being viewed as a universal negative within WWE. Rollins had been the leader of The Vision but Bron Breakker turned on him to end the post-Crown Jewel edition of Monday Night Raw, with Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman siding with Breakker.
Those in WWE who believe Seth Rollins' injury is legitimate have noted to PWInsider that the silver lining in the situation is that pushing Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to the moon with Heyman could help freshen up WWE from the "current creative doldrums" the company have found themselves in for much of 2025.
Ridge Holland is currently on the shelf with a Lisfranc foot injury that he suffered in September while working a match against Moose at a TNA IMPACT taping. Despite this, Holland announced this week that WWE had opted not to renew his contract and he will exit the company in November. WWE will continue to pay for Holland's rehab costs, although he will not receive a wage from the company after his deal expires.
Fightful Select has reported that WWE talent they spoke with were "universally disappointed" that Holland would not be paid while injured, with one veteran talent noting this wouldn't have happened before the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a significant concern for many wrestlers on the roster.
Ridge Holland has been earning NXT money in WWE, with Fightful noting the former NXT Tag Team Champion's main roster deal was due to expire in November 2024. Holland was offered a one-year extension for around $200,000 less than what he had been making, which he accepted.
Holland was also not paid any extra money for working the TNA tapings that resulted in him suffering the foot injury that will keep him out of action for several months.
Def Rebel have long been criticised for the entrance music they produce for WWE talents, and the company moved away from some Def Rebel themes over Crown Jewel weekend.
BodySlam has reported that Def Rebel are currently on their final contract with WWE, although there is no timetable on when exactly the music group's deal expires. WWE are also expected to do some work with outside artists.
