WWE 205 Live To 'Occasionally' Feature Superstars Over Weight Limit

A relaxation of the rules on WWE 205 Live

WWE have announced that the 205 Live brand will 'occasionally' feature talent and wrestlers over the established weight limit going forward.

205 Live, WWE's home for the cruiserweight division since 2016, is set upon the foundations that each of the performers on the show weighs 205 lbs or less. In the past, wrestlers over that weight limit have appeared when taking part in NXT tournaments, or matches that are connected with such competitions.

However, it appears WWE's 205 lbs rule for the brand are being significantly relaxed, as the company have confirmed that 205 Live will now sometimes feature wrestlers over the established weight limit.

The change in rules will see this week's 205 Live headlined by a bout between Joe Gacy and Josh Briggs - two performers who are both over the usual 205 lbs limit.

WWE wrote: "The purple brand will now occasionally play host to matches where one or multiple Superstars eclipse the 205-pound weight limit, setting the stage for a colossal main event between Gacy and Briggs."

Each performer has appeared on the show once before, in the lead-up to the NXT Breakout Tournament. Gacy and Briggs both lost in the first round of the Tournament. Gacy lost to Trey Baxter, while Briggs lost to Carmelo Hayes.
