WWE 2K23 Developers Looking Forward To Release Of AEW Fight Forever

Visual Concepts happy about the competition from AEW Fight Forever for upcoming WWE 2K titles

Outside of the likes of Fire Pro Wrestling World in 2018, WWE have not faced any competition in the pro wrestling video game space since 2008's TNA IMPACT!. That is set to change, though, as THQ Nordic will publish AEW Fight Forever at some point.

WWE 2K23 developers Visual Concepts aren't worried about the upcoming AEW title, however, with Creative Director Lynell Jinks telling Wccftech that he is looking forward to the competition.

"I love competition. I started on NBA 2K, I spent 10 years on it, and at that time, we were going against NBA Inside Drive. Then we were going against [NBA] ShootOut and NBA Live, and every year, we would look at what they did and be, like, 'That's interesting' or 'They did this better than us.' That only makes our games better. Same thing you can say about wrestling in general -- having competition, to me, it's no coincidence that the storylines [in WWE] have been the best they've been in a long time. I think it's because of that competition. It's the same with video games. I'm looking forward to seeing what they're gonna do that's going to drive us to be even stronger," Jinks said.

AEW Fight Forever has been in development since the summer of 2020 but no release date has been announced for the game as of yet. WWE 2K23 will be released on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC on March 17.
