WWE & AEW Stars React To NXT Beating AEW In The Ratings For The First Time

Wednesday Night War rumbles on...

This past Wednesday NXT beat Dynamite in the ratings for the first time.

The action-packed show hosted main roster talents like Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins ahead of Survivor Series this Sunday. This week's episode got a 22% ratings boost from the previous week, as viewership increased fro 750,000 to 916,000.

Dynamite viewers however declined by seven per cent, from 957,000 to 893,000. Despite this decline in overall viewership, the young promotion did remain ahead in the key 18-49 demographic. AEW's show attracted 505,000 viewers, while NXT had 393,000.

With the WWE Victory, NXT Champion Adam Cole was the first Superstar to give his take. Speaking with TheWrap, Cole explained that he doesn't "focus too much on the ratings," but that: "Winning is cool." He added: "we're just mainly focused on trying to put on a really exciting, cool show, and last night's show was just an absolute blast, with the guys from Raw. The guys from SmackDown. The matches that happened. It was just a really, really cool night and so I'm glad so many people enjoyed it."

AEW stars Cody and World Champion Chris Jericho then commented on the ratings defeat.

After being asked on his thoughts on Twitter, The American Nightmare replied: "Take it on the chin, learn from it, get up off the mat and get to work. Excuses are for assholes."

Jericho added his take later in the evening, tweeting: "Remember guys, it’s a marathon not a sprint.....?".

Elaborating in a further tweet, Chris explained that he didn't consider Wednesday's NXT episode a: "true NXT show" with the presence of so many main roster Superstars.
