WWE Confirms Ric Flair's Release

WWE confirms Flair is gone

WWE have officially announced the release of Ric Flair.

It was jointly reported by Wrestling Inc. and Fightful yesterday that Flair had requested and been granted his release. Fightful Select then noted that Flair had grown frustrated "with certain booking decisions" on Monday Night Raw and contacted Vince McMahon to voice his concerns, as well as ask for his release.

A report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter later noted that Flair had taken issue with his daughter Charlotte Flair's recent booking and texted Vince McMahon directly. Meltzer also claimed Flair's release was a Vince McMahon decision.

WWE have now confirmed they have come to terms with Flair on his release. Unlike past release announcements, though, they did not wish Flair the best in his future endeavours, simply writing: "We have come to terms on the release of Ric Flair as of today, 8/03/2021."

With Flair's release, he departs WWE only one year after he re-signed with the company. He returned to WWE in 2012 after three years away and he made sporadic appearances as a manager and personality during his final run.
