The reason behind WWE erasing the NXT concert segment with Ricky Saints from social media has been revealed.
In the main event segment of the go-home episode of NXT before Vengeance Day, Ricky Saints looked to mock NXT Champion Joe Hendry with a concert of his own. The segment initially consisted of Saints singing a version of 'Espresso' by Sabrina Carpenter before he transitioned into his own version of 'I Believe in Joe Hendry.' After finishing the song, Saints looked to pass the guitar to a stagehand, who was revealed to be a masked Joe Hendry, and they proceeded to lay out Saints to end NXT.
The segment was widely criticised by fans and a clip of the concert promptly disappeared from social media, with Fightful Select reporting that WWE erased the video from the likes of Twitter due to the negative reception. It is still live on YouTube.
Fightful noted the segment wasn't a Ricky Saints pitch or idea and he has actually looked to lean out of things on WWE TV that would result in comparisons to The Rock, although the former Ricky Starks did refer to the NXT stagehands as "jabronis."
The negative reception to the concert also extended backstage at NXT, with it being noted the segment received a lukewarm reaction. There weren't any long-term worries about Joe Hendry or Ricky Saints, though, and the feeling within WWE was they recovered well at Vengeance Day.
