WWE Fans Revolt Against The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns At WWE WrestleMania 40

There has been a lot of outcry from fans in response to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns

When The Rock emerged on this week’s SmackDown to seemingly replace Cody Rhodes in a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, there was a lot of uproar online from fans regarding this creative decision, not to mention negative backstage reactions inside WWE too. Of course, there is backlash to a lot of creative calls and there have been many instances of this over the years, but this hasn’t just been a one-night complaint from fans, and instead there has been a weekend-long revolt which has been given life in various forms.

Social media is the number one piece of evidence that WWE fans are not happy with Rhodes losing out on his match with Reigns, as #WeWantCody trended on X, even trending number one in the US. This hashtag would also trend in the top five in the UK too, which just goes to show how widespread this movement is.

When it comes to the YouTube video showcasing The Rock challenging Roman Reigns on SmackDown, it has received the highest number of dislikes in the history of WWE’s YouTube channel. It surpassed this number early on, but in the time since that number has doubled, with the video receiving over 400,000 dislikes compared to around 90,000 likes. The Rock’s social media accounts have also been flooded with negative comments too, with him even getting ratio’d by a custom Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns poster in his replies on X

The latest example of negativity surrounding this whole situation was at a live event in Knoxville, Tennessee last night when fans in the arena booed a video showing The Rock.
