A positive update has been provided on the condition of WWE Hall of Famer Afa.
The World Xtreme Wrestling X (formerly Twitter) account noted that the 81-year-old is on the mend following a recent health scare.
Their statement read:
"It's been a harrowing few days, but our beloved Pops, #WWE Hall of Famer Afa the Wild Samoan, is coming home from the hospital today! He battles pneumonia and two mild heart attacks, but in his own words: "I kicked out at 1!""
Afa used to oversee the WXW promotion, but in more recent times the promotion has been run by Afa's son, Samu Anoa'i.
A member of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family, Afa is a former three-time WWE Tag Team Champion as a member of The Wild Samoans (alongside his brother Sika). The duo were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
The Wild Samoans have made occasional appearances on WWE television in recent years, including at Hell in a Cell 2020, where they celebrated Roman Reigns' successful Universal Championship defence against Jey Uso (in an I Quit Hell in a Cell match).
Afa and Sika were reportedly set to be part of an acknowledgement ceremony for Reigns on the January 20, 2023 edition of SmackDown, but the segment was scrapped as they were 'not ready' to make the trip (while Rikishi was suffering from an illness).
