WWE Heading To Detroit For SummerSlam

This year's SummerSlam will take place in Detroit, Michigan, WWE have confirmed. The Biggest Party of the Summer will go down on Saturday, August 5, at Ford Field. 

SummerSlam will be the first WWE event to take place at Ford Field since WrestleMania 23 in 2007. It is also the first SummerSlam to take place in Michigan since the 1993 edition. 

Tickets for SummerSlam will go on sale on Friday, April 24, via Ticketmaster.com. Pre-sale information can be found here. 

Speaking with Detroit News, Sami Zayn expressed early excitement about the event, saying: 

"This is a big deal that we're coming, and that it's in Ford Field. I think it's going to be extremely exciting. SummerSlam on its own is already a pretty big deal. And then when you add in Detroit and you add a stadium component to it, all of a sudden it becomes a really big deal. And then everybody gets more excited about it, and that sort of circular pattern goes from fans to performers back to the fans. So there becomes this heightened energy the closer you come to it".
