WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 Results

To begin June, WWE held their latest pay-per-view/premium live event as Hell In A Cell was broadcast from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Sunday. The show was one devoid of stakes but WWE still provided fans with an entertaining show overall that featured an excellent opener and main event along with other good encounters.

Bianca Belair (c) def. Becky Lynch & Asuka – Triple Threat Match for the Raw Women's Championship 

While Naomi was reportedly originally slated to face Bianca Belair at Hell In A Cell, that match was ultimately scrapped after the two-time SmackDown Women's Champion and her tag team partner Sasha Banks walked out of the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw. After WWE amended their plans, the company arrived at a Triple Threat pitting former champions Becky Lynch and Asuka against Belair. 

After 15 minutes of the pay-per-view, the opening contest finally got underway and Becky Lynch dominated the opening minutes, almost picking up the win following a Top Rope Leg Drop to Bianca Belair before Asuka broke up the pin. Asuka and Bianca Belair soon fought their way back into the match, though, to make it an even contest for the remainder of the encounter. 

The bout featured plenty of cool moments, including a Double Ankle Lock from Asuka on Lynch and Belair and the contest told a story of Lynch repeatedly trying to steal the win by throwing one of her opponents out of the ring after they hit a big move. 

The plan wouldn't work for Lynch, though, and it came back to haunt her as Big-Time Becks decked Asuka with a Manhandle Slam in the final moments, only to be tossed out of the ring by Belair, who proceeded to cover Asuka to score the 1-2-3. 

Bobby Lashley def. MVP & Omos

A feud that had been running since before WrestleMania 38 continued in the second match of the night as Omos and MVP teamed together against MVP's former friend Bobby Lashley. In singles contests, Lashley held a 2-1 record against Omos heading into Sunday's pay-per-view.

Before the contest, Cedric Alexander suggested ideas to MVP and Omos, only to be rejected before MVP said The Hurt Business would never be coming back. 

Once the match got underway, Omos and MVP initially had the upper hand following a distraction from MVP on the apron and Lashley fought back, only to be chopped down by Omos who hit Snake Eyes and two charges in the corner. Omos then sent Lashley crashing through the ringside barrier with a Running Shoulder Tackle and The All Mighty just managed to make it back into the ring at the count of nine.

Smelling blood, MVP decided to tag himself in and he laid in some punches and a Diving Knee on Lashley but the former United States Champion only grew frustrated every time Lashley kicked out. MVP then went for the Playmaker but Lashley escaped, knocked Omos from the apron and decked MVP with a Spear.

Lashley looked to have the match won, only for Omos to break up the pin. Cedric Alexander then came flying into the ring seconds later and Lashley capitalised with a Spear to Omos. The All Mighty pressed home his advantage and he applied the Hurt Lock to MVP for the submission win, giving Lashley a 3-1 record over Omos to seemingly end their feud. 

After the match, Lashley held up a fan's replica WWE Championship, signalling he wanted to face Roman Reigns next. 

Kevin Owens def. Ezekiel 

In the third match of the night, a two-month programme finally had its first singles match as Kevin Owens took on Elias' younger brother Ezekiel, as KO still refused to accept that Ezekiel wasn't just a repackaged Elias. 

The match was almost over within seconds after Ezekiel connected with a Jumping Knee and Flying Elbow for the nearest of near falls. KO soon fired back, though, after launching Ezekiel into the ring post. 

As blood dripped from Ezekiel's eyebrow, Owens connected with a Moonsault before he slowed the action down, shouting to the crowd that Ezekiel was Elias. Ezekiel fought back soon after and following some fiery offence, he scored a near fall with a Spinebuster. 

This was as close as Ezekiel came, though, as Owens connected with a Pop Up Powerbomb for a near fall before an enraged KO proceeded to slap Ezekiel while he continued to proclaim that his opponent was Elias. Soon after, Owens hit two Superkicks, a Cannonball and a Stunner for the clean win. 

Judgement Day (Edge, Damian Priest, & Rhea Ripley) def. Finn Balor, AJ Styles, & Liv Morgan

Moody WWE faction Judgement Day were in action against AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan next at Hell In A Cell with Edge having already scored two pay-per-view wins over The Phenomenal One courtesy of interference from Damian Priest at WrestleMania 38 and Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania Backlash.

After some initial offence from the babyfaces, Judgement Day soon took control after a distraction from Edge as the WWE Hall Of Famer and Damian Priest worked over Finn Balor. 

Balor eventually made the hot tag to AJ Styles and the two-time WWE Champion managed to deck Edge with a Phenomenal Forearm. Damian Priest pulled Styles from the ring while he made the cover, though, keeping the match alive for Judgement Day. 

After some Morgan vs. Ripley action, the match broke down and Balor and Styles hit Planchas before a dive to the outside from Liv Morgan. Balor then looked to capitalise with a Coup de Grace to Priest but Ripley knocked him from the top turnbuckle. 

Styles decked Priest with a Phenomenal Forearm moments later, though, and Balor avoided a Spear attempt from Edge before he went for the Coup De Grace, only for Ripley to block the move once again. Morgan got into the mix to take Ripley out but the distraction allowed Edge to avoid the Coup De Grace and deck The Prince with a Spear for the win.

Madcap Moss def. Happy Corbin - No Holds Barred Match

Former friends collided at WWE Hell In A Cell in the fifth match on the show as Madcap Moss went one-on-one with Happy Corbin. Moss initially looked to be on the shelf following an attack from Corbin but a repackaged Moss returned on Friday's episode of SmackDown, setting up Sunday's match. Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin was also the first and only SmackDown match of the night and it was announced that Pat McAfee was off for the evening. 

It didn't take long for the No DQ stipulation to be used as Happy Corbin drove Madcap Moss over the announce table, only for Moss to launch Corey Graves' chair at his opponent moments later. A steel chair then entered the fray and Corbin used the edge of the chair to inflict damage before Moss hit a Drop Toehold onto the weapon. 

Corbin was sent crashing into a steel chair in the corner soon after and Madcap hit repeated chair shots that left Corbin reeling. Both men then exchanged momentum, during which Corbin drove Moss into the announce table while Madcap had a steel chair around his neck. Moss wasn't down for long, though, as he hit a Fallaway Slam on the steel steps and a Punchline before he placed a steel chair around Corbin's neck and smashed the steel steps into the chair, exacting revenge on Corbin and scoring the win.

Corbin was then taken out of Allstate Arena on a stretcher while Madcap celebrated with the Chicago crowd.

Theory (c) def. Mustafa Ali - United States Championship 

Hometown hero Mustafa Ali challenged Theory for the United States Championship in the semi-main event. 

Theory was initially on top in the early minutes but Ali managed to make the match an even contest. The match also featured some cool moments, including a Jumping Spanish Fly from Theory and a second rope Tornado DDT from Ali. 

Ali and Theory were unsuccessful in hitting their finishers later in the contest but the challenger did manage to apply the STF. Theory made it to the bottom rope and Ali looked to follow up with a 450 Splash but he crashed and burned which provided the opening for Theory to connect with a Chop Block before he hit the ATL for the win. 

Cody Rhodes def. Seth Rollins - Hell In A Cell Match

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins continued their feud, this time inside Hell In A Cell in the main event of the June pay-per-view. There were major question marks before the match, though, as WWE confirmed Rhodes had torn his pectoral muscle completely off the bone, which will leave him out of action for a significant period. 

Despite this, Rhodes insisted on wrestling at Hell In A Cell and there was then an audible gasp in the arena after Cody removed his jacket, showing the horrific bruising he had sustained as a result of his torn pectoral muscle. 

Rhodes managed to hit some trademark punches, a Disaster Kick and a Cody Cutter on a Polka dot-wearing Rollins in the opening minutes as The American Nightmare writhed in pain before Cody applied the Figure Four Leglock. Rollins soon targeted Rhodes' injured pec, though, hitting the bruised area with a kendo stick before he followed up with a steel chair shot and sent Cody crashing into the cell torn pectoral muscle first. 

Next, Rollins unveiled a polka dot weight belt from under the ring before he proceeded to whip The American Nightmare. A table was then introduced to the match that Rollins went through after Rhodes moved out of the way of a Frog Splash. The American Nightmare then exited the ring and the match took a turn, with Rhodes collecting a bull rope from under the ring, which he and Rollins proceeded to tie themselves to, making the contest briefly a Texas Bull Rope Hell In A Cell Match.

Rollins would free himself after a fun exchange in which he took a cowbell shot to the head before Cody fired back with a Crossroads. Rollins kicked out, though, and he followed up by Buckle Bombing his opponent through a table in the corner. Cody continued to worsen as the contest progressed but he fought back with a Pedigree for another near fall, only to have Rollins fire back with a Stomp for his own two count. 

By this point, a Sledgehammer had entered the ring and Rollins hit his own Crossroads in the final moments before Cody blocked a second one and hit another Crossroads. The American Nightmare then hit two more Crossroads and a sledgehammer shot to pick up the win, torn pec be damned.
