WWE Invests In Premier Lacrosse League

WWE investing in other sports

WWE have invested in a new sports venture.

According to Bloomberg, the company invested in Premier Lacrosse League during the latest round of funding. Other investors include The Chernin Group, who were already an investor in the league, as well as NBA player Kevin Durant's venture fund.

The new infusion of cash means the new league has doubled in value since the previous round of funding in June 2021, although no specific figures were provided.

Founded in 2018, Premier Lacrosse League held their inaugural season one year later. Unlike other sports leagues, the PLL's eight teams tour the United States and play in different cities during the summer and early autumn. The league signed a media rights deal with ESPN earlier this year.

PLL Founders Paul and Mike Rabil believe WWE will help "raise the entertainment profile of the PLL."

Outside of professional wrestling, WWE have been involved in other sports in the past, including American Football with the XFL and Bodybuilding through the World Bodybuilding Federation.
