Following his loss in the main event of the September 14 edition of Monday Night Raw from Mexico City, Penta noted that he wanted a rematch with Roman Reigns and promised to one day become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It appears that rematch won't be taking place anytime soon, however.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has reported that a Penta vs. Roman Reigns rematch is not currently planned, but WWE feel like they can go back to the match at any time, such was the positive reception to the Mexico City matchup, and it is seen as a future pay-per-view headliner.
Several people within WWE also believe Penta deserves the opportunity to remain featured at the top of the card, with some feeling he has established himself as a main event player with the Roman Reigns match.
This comes after reports that WWE executives in Mexico City were "extremely happy" with Penta and he is viewed as a future world champion by WWE higher-ups.
Penta - the former Pentagon Jr. and plenty of other names - made his WWE debut in January 2025. He has so far had one reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion, holding the belt for 153 days until the luchador dropped the title to Chad Gable at SummerSlam.
For the time being, Roman Reigns' programme with LA Knight is set to continue as their World Heavyweight Title match was made official for Money in the Bank after Knight laid out Reigns following the end of the Mexico City Raw.
