WWE NXT Draws Higher Total Viewership Than AEW Dynamite

WWE NXT beats AEW Dynamite in total viewership

For the first time in three years, WWE NXT drew a higher total viewership than AEW Dynamite.

The October 4 edition of AEW Dynamite, which featured a promo from Adam Copeland, averaged 800,000 viewers on TBS in the United States, according to Wrestlenomics. This included a 0.28 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, estimated to be 364,000.

Dynamite's total viewership was the show's lowest audience since May 3 and the second-lowest viewership of 2023. The broadcast did suffer from issues, with TBS listings stating for many that Dynamite would be airing at 4 pm ET, as opposed to the usual start time of 8 pm ET. This is believed to have affected the show's viewership in at least some capacity.

While AEW Dynamite struggled, WWE NXT drew their best total viewership since October 28, 2020 as the October 3 episode averaged 857,000 viewers. The episode averaged a 0.22 rating, estimated to be 289,000 by Wrestlenomics

Although NXT was below Dynamite in the key demo, the show averaged a higher total viewership than the AEW show for the first time since July 2020, during the height of the Wednesday Night Wars. WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite previously went head-to-head on Wednesday nights from October 2019 until April 2021 when NXT moved to Tuesdays. AEW Dynamite would often beat NXT in the ratings war.

Dynamite and NXT will go head-to-head on Tuesday, October 10 as Dynamite has been preempted due to TBS's coverage of the MLB Playoffs. Both companies have loaded up their shows
