CM Punk In Talks With WWE

The two sides are talking.

Former WWE Champion CM Punk is in talks to return to the company, according to a new report.

Writing in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that those close to Punk have indicated that it is his intention to return. Meltzer added that the two sides are in talks, but that those within WWE have said no deal has been completed as of yet.

He further posited that, if a deal were to be reached in time, Survivor Series weekend would be the place to have his return, given that the show is taking place in Punk's hometown of Chicago.

The 44-year-old famously walked out on WWE in February 2014, though he did work as an analyst on the WWE Backstage show on Fox Sports in 2019 and 2020.

The Straight-Edge Superstar most recently wrestled for AEW, but his contract was terminated on September 2 following backstage incidents with Jack Perry and Tony Khan at All In (on August 27).

Shawn Michaels recently said he would 'love' to have Punk in NXT.

UPDATE: It has since emerged that CM Punk returning at WWE Survivor Series is considered a "safe bet." There are still reportedly major roadblocks to a Punk return, however.
