WWE NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day Results

A shocking turn to end the show

WWE switched out love for vengeance this Valentine's Day and NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day was broadcast from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. Both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments were decided on the show and three championships were on the line. Check out the results below:

Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai def. Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart - Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals

The match didn't conform to traditional tag team wrestling as the heel team of Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai were the babyfaces for much of the bout and Kai even made a hot tag to her partner at one point.

Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon had multiple chances to win, but Raquel Gonzalez's power was just too much in the end as she put The War Goddess out of commission by throwing her into the caged barricade and hit her patented One-Arm Powerbomb on Blackheart for the 1-2-3.

With that, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez have a Women's Tag Team Championship match on the horizon against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.

Johnny Gargano def. Kushida - NXT North American Championship

Both men put it all on the line as they battled back and forth for 24 minutes. Kushida repeatedly targeted Johnny Gargano's left arm throughout the match with Chickenwing Suplexes and Cross Armbreakers in the hopes of locking in the Hoverboard Lock but the NXT North American Champion always found a way to escape The Time Splitter's finisher.

In the closing stages, Kushida locked in the Hoverboard Lock and the action spilled to the outside. Gargano managed to get some separation after he drove the challenger into the barricade, but he only earned a small amount of respite as Kushida charged down the ramp and connected with a brutal PK. The Time Splitter followed up by locking in the Hoverboard Lock once more but Gargano escaped and delivered One Final Beat on the ramp.

He then connected with another One Final Beat inside the squared circle for the win.

The match appeared to be building to a Kushida victory at various points, but Dexter Lumis' pre-match attack of Austin Theory suggests The Tortured Artist will be the next challenger for the NXT North American Championship.

MSK def. Grizzled Young Veterans - Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals

The commentary team repeatedly emphasised that Nash Carter was wrestling for his father and MSK ultimately managed to pick up the win after an 18-minute match.

Both teams managed to connect with their trademark offence, including a Doomsday Device-Suicide Device combination from Grizzled Young Veterans, but a Ticket To Mayhem attempt from GYZ was blocked by Wes Lee and it gave MSK the opening they needed to connect with their Hart Attack-Blockbuster finisher on James Drake for the victory.

Io Shirai def. Mercedes Martinez & Toni Storm - NXT Women's Championship

The match went shorter than many may have expected, only clocking in at 12 minutes, and Io Shirai ultimately picked up the win to continue her reign as NXT Women's Champion.

The match featured memorable spots like an Io Shirai Crossbody from the scaffolding onto her opponents and a multi-submission spot early in the match, but the most memorable moment came after Toni Storm tried to clear the announce table and the furniture just collapsed under little pressure.

Martinez and Storm then had chances to pick up the win in the closing stages but Shirai hit a Moonsault onto her opponents when the former NXT UK Women's Champion had the match won and covered Martinez for the win.

Finn Balor def. Pete Dunne - NXT Championship

Both men were methodical in their offence throughout the match as Dunne targeted The Prince's injured jaw, fingers and arm while Balor went after the challenger's left knee. This ultimately led to a widely-praised main event and Dunne lost nothing in defeat as he almost defeated Balor with a Bitter End.

The NXT Champion ultimately kicked out, though, and he managed to counter a second Bitter End attempt into a Reverse DDT for a near fall. Dunne initially refused to let go of Balor's fingers after the pin, but The Prince ripped out Dunne's mouthguard and connected with a Shotgun Dropkick straight to The Bruiserweight's face. The champion then followed up with a Coup De Grace and 1916 DDT for the 1-2-3.

The biggest moment of the show came after the bell, however, and the landscape of NXT changed when Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch attacked Balor from behind before The Undisputed ERA made the save. The UE and Balor were then about to pose to end the show, but Adam Cole Superkicked The Prince from out of nowhere and he hit another Superkick on his longtime ally Kyle O'Reilly as Roderick Strong looked on in shock.

The long-awaited Undisputed ERA civil war has finally arrived.
