WWE NXT The Great American Bash 2020 Night 1 Results

A Raw star made a surprise appearance...

Night one of The Great American Bash was built around a dream match for many fans as Sasha Banks went one on one with NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai in a non-title match. The consensus is that the bout lived up to the hype as both women battled back and forth. The match even ended with a surprise appearance from Raw Women's Champion Asuka who sprayed green mist in The Legit Boss's eyes to give The Genius Of The Sky the opening she needed to hit the Shirai Moonsault for the victory.

Elsewhere on the card, Dexter Lumis continued to haunt Roderick Strong as he forced the former NXT Tag Team Champion to tap out, Rhea Ripley avoided joining the Robert Stone Brand as she defeated Stone and Aliyah in a Handicap match, and Tegan Nox was crowned the number one contender for the NXT Women's TItle. Fans also praised the hard-hitting affair between Oney Lorcan and Timothy Thatcher.

Multiple matches were set up for night two as Johnny Gargano looks set to clash with Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Mercedes Martinez will be in action, Damian Priest will hunt for Cameron Grimes, and Drake Maverick will seek revenge alongside Breezango against Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

Check out the results below:
• Tegan Nox def. Dakota Kai, Mia Yim and Candice LeRae - Number One Contender for the NXT Women's Championship
• Timothy Thatcher def. Oney Lorcan
• Rhea Ripley def. Aliyah & Robert Stone - If Rhea Ripley lost she would have had to join the Robert Stone Brand
• Dexter Lumis def. Roderick Strong - Strap Match
• Io Shirai def. Sasha Banks
