At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, NXT largely maintained the status quo as Adam Cole retained the NXT Championship in a Backlot Brawl against The Velveteen Dream, and Keith Lee vanquished Johnny Gargano to keep hold of the North American Title.
The black and gold brand was seemingly setting up Finn Balor and Karrion Kross as Lee and Cole's next challengers but this all changed on last night's edition of NXT.
During the show, the leader of the Undisputed ERA made his way to the ring and announced he had his heart set on reclaiming the North American Title. This only resulted in The Limitless One, Gargano and Balor making their way to the ring and the four Superstars jawed until William Regal appeared on the titantron. The general manager then announced Lee will defend his championship against The Prince and Johnny Wrestling next week. The winner will go on to face Adam Cole in a Winner Takes All match on July 8.
This won't be the first time in 2020 that a promotion has put their top titles on one star as Tetsuya Naito was crowned the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion at Wrestle Kingdom 14 back on January 5.
