WWE NXT WarGames 2021 Announced for December 5

WARGAMES!

WWE have announced NXT's return to pay-per-view as WarGames makes a comeback next month.

The first pay-per-view of the NXT 2.0 era will air on Sunday 5 December 2021 and will see the return of the WarGames concept, which has become a staple of NXT's annual pay-per-view schedule over the past few years.

Interestingly, WWE appear to have dropped the 'TakeOver' name, which had previously been a consistent in their NXT pay-per-view events.

It is noted that, shortly following the advertisement for NXT WarGames aired during the November 9 NXT broadcast, the WWE and WWE NXT social media channels shared a graphic promotion WarGames as an NXT TakeOver event. Those graphics were deleted, however, and later reposted without the 'TakeOver' tag.

Originally a match used by the NWA and later WCW, NXT revived WarGames as its own event in 2017. The marquee bout typically sees two or three teams of wrestlers locked inside a steel cage that encompasses two rings, with combatants entering at different periods throughout the match.
