WWE Officials Reportedly 'Thrilled' With Jimmy Smith's Raw Debut

A fine first outing by the new announcer

Members of the WWE Raw production team were reportedly 'absolutely thrilled' with how Jimmy Smith performed on his first night as the show's new play-by-play announcer.

Smith made his first appearance in the WWE Raw commentary booth this past week, alongside Corey Graves and Byron Saxton, having been announced as the replacement for Adnan Virk.

Virk only last 43 days in the role, amid reported concerns over his commentary style, with former UFC and MMA Bellator announcer Smith being chosen as his replacement.

Smith's work received praise on social media from WWE fans and WrestleVotes is reporting that officials backstage within the promotion were also 'absolutely thrilled' with how Smith performed on his debut.

Two comments given, per the report, suggest that Smith was 'tremendous' at the job and is a 'natural fit' for commentating on the WWE product.

Smith himself took to social media after the show to reveal how much he enjoyed the job, while also praising Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre for their efforts in Raw's main event.
