WWE Raw Results - February 22, 2021: The Miz Briefly Celebrates His WWE Title Win

The A-Lister will face Lashley next week

Following the events of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Drew McIntyre was nowhere to be seen on this week's edition of Monday Night Raw but the WWE Title picture still dominated the broadcast.

New WWE Champion The Miz and John Morrison opened the show with a special edition of Miz TV. The A-Lister talked about his 16-year career and claimed the likes of Triple H, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Batista and Bobby Lashley don't measure up to his longevity, star power and tenacious attitude. The Miz then called himself the Babe Ruth of WWE and ran down his accomplishments inside the squared circle before he was interrupted by MVP and Bobby Lashley.

The leader of The Hurt Business wasted no time in reminding the WWE Champion that Bobby Lashley "wrecked" Drew McIntyre which allowed Miz to cash in the Money In The Bank contract and capture the title. MVP also reminded Miz that John Morrison cost Lashley the United States Title and the WWE Champion had an obligation to make it right, especially after the deal they made on Sunday.

The Miz quickly transitioned to the cowardly heel role as he admitted he agreed to give Lashley a title shot, but noted he didn't say when. He then claimed he didn't have time to give The All Mighty a shot at the belt, but this wasn't good enough for Lashley who grabbed the new champion and said he had one hour to come to his senses.

One hour later, Miz, Morrison, MVP and Lashley reconvened in the ring with Adam Pearce. The Miz continued to stall and tried to worm his way out of the match until he suggested delaying the bout for a week following more pressure from Lashley and MVP.

The meeting was suddenly interrupted by Braun Strowman, though, who angrily claimed he deserved a WWE Championship shot and accused Adam Pearce and Shane McMahon of having a vendetta against him despite him lacking the basic credentials to be in the Raw Elimination Chamber match.

Shane McMahon then headed to the ring and briefly calmed the situation before he called Strowman unintelligent and reminded him of the criteria to enter the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match.

Strowman had a weak response for McMahon as he told everyone in the ring that they sucked and once again demanded a WWE Title match. McMahon promptly rejected Strowman's demand, but he accepted Braun's second suggestion, which was a match with Bobby Lashley. If Strowman could defeat The All Mighty in the main event, Lashley vs. The Miz for the WWE Title on next week's show would become a Triple Threat.

Lashley and Strowman then went one on one to close out Monday Night Raw, and while some may have expected a back and forth contest, the match was anything but. Lashley largely dominated Strowman and he kicked out of a Running Powerslam before Spearing The Monster Among Men after four minutes to pick up the win.

The former United States Champion then looked even more dominant following the match as he forced Strowman to pass out with the Hurt Lock and Speared The Miz to leave the WWE Champion lying as Raw went off the air.

Beyond the WWE Title picture, Charlotte Flair's multiple storylines once again took up a substantial amount of time on Monday night. The Queen first teamed with Asuka against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax, but she ended up costing her team the match after she inadvertently kicked Asuka in the face and left her easy prey for a Leg Drop from Nia Jax.

Flair looked upset after the match and offered Asuka her hand, only to have it rejected by The Empress Of Tomorrow. A Raw Women's Championship match between the two women looks to be on the horizon.

Charlotte then reappeared later in the broadcast during a backstage segment with Ric Flair. The former women's champion told her father that she couldn't concentrate on anything else while he was involved with Lacey Evans. They then bickered for several minutes before Charlotte said she was thankful for everything her dad had done, but she wanted time to be Charlotte Flair without having to compete with Ric for the spotlight.

The storyline between the deceased Fiend and Randy Orton also continued as The Viper cut a promo on Wyatt and Alexa Bliss and coughed up a black liquid to end the segment. RETRIBUTION appear to be close to a break-up as well as Mustafa Ali berated his underlings after T-Bar and Mace failed to defeat The New Day.

Elsewhere on the show, Riddle defeated John Morrison, Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin vanquished Lucha House Party, Damian Priest pinned Angel Garza, Sheamus overcame Jeff Hardy, Lana & Naomi defeated Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke and AJ Styles conquered Ricochet.
