WWE Raw Results - September 20, 2021

A big main event and more

With a big match in The New Day vs. The Bloodline having been announced ahead of time, WWE rolled into Raleigh, North Carolina for the September 20 edition of Monday Night Raw.

Raw opened with The New Day as the faction celebrated Big E's WWE Championship win from last week's show. Big E reflected on his friendship with the late Brodie Lee during the segment which led to chants of "Brodie!" before the group was interrupted by The Bloodline.

Faction warfare broke out soon after in the opening six-man tag team match and both teams battled back and forth for 13 minutes. Fans weren't treated to a clean finish, though, as an infuriated Bobby Lashley made his presence felt as he decimated Big E, Kofi Kingston and The Usos at ringside which provided the opening for Roman Reigns to hit a distracted Xavier Woods with a Spear for the 1-2-3.

Reigns wasn't standing tall for long, however, as Lashley decked The Head Of A Table with a Spear before Big Bobby followed up with a Spear to Big E to send the new WWE Champion crashing through the barricade.

Full of confidence, Lashley then strutted backstage and proclaimed to Adam Pearce that he could beat both Roman Reigns and Big E at the same time. The WWE official ultimately took The All Mighty's word for it and booked a Triple Threat Match between the two world champions and Lashley to set up a massive main event.

In that main event, Big E, Lashley and Reigns all had time to shine during the 20-minute contest. E managed to hit the Universal Champion with two Big Endings, even after Lashley had already put the New Day man through a table.

Following the second Big Ending, E looked to pin Reigns but Lashley suddenly unloaded on the WWE Champion with steel chair shots. Once again, Reigns seized the opportunity and he decked an unsuspecting Lashley with a Spear from out of nowhere for the victory.

Beyond the main event scene, new Women's Tag Team Champions were crowned as Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H defeated Natalya and Tamina in two minutes and 35 seconds to capture the gold. There was also title implications in Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus as The Charismatic Enigma defeated his former rival to make Sunday's United States Title match a Triple Threat.

A dominant, ferocious Shayna Baszler also appeared, arguably for the first time since the build to WrestleMania 36, as The Queen Of Spades annihilated former friend Nia Jax and defeated her in two minutes by referee stoppage after locking in the Kirifuda Clutch. Baszler didn't stop there, though, as she continued the attack after the bell and she repeatedly stomped on Jax's arm while it was against the steel stairs as a sympathetic crowd watched on.

In other happenings on Raw, Randy Orton and AJ Styles went one on one as the Raw Tag Team Title feud continued. The two men once again displayed their excellent in-ring chemistry and they produced a clever finish as Orton teased catching Styles with an RKO when the two-time WWE Champion went for a Phenomenal Forearm. As a result, Styles climbed down which allowed Orton to catch him with a Draping DDT and RKO for the victory.

Elsewhere on the show, Doudrop defeated Eva Marie again, the new tag team of Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo picked up a win over Mustafa Ali and Mansoor, and Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss met in Alexa's Playground ahead of the Raw Women's Title match at Extreme Rules.
