WWE Release Ric Flair

The Nature Boy was granted his release earlier today

WWE have come to the terms on the release of The Nature Boy Ric Flair, as jointly reported by Fightful and Wrestling Inc.

The legendary 16-time World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer requested his release after becoming frustrated with creative decisions, and approached Vince McMahon directly about his release, per a report from Fightful Select.

Whilst Flair hasn’t been used on WWE TV for a while now, it has been reported that he wasn’t satisfied with his most recent run with Lacey Evans as her mentor/baby daddy, and had grown frustrated with certain booking decisions.

The Nature Boy last wrestled for WWE in 2008, memorably losing a retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24.

Flair has been employed by WWE on several occasions. His first run in the early 90s saw hims have two reigns with the WWE Title before returning to WCW, whilst his second run after the demise of WCW saw Flair operate first as an authority figure, then as the elder statesman of Evolution.

Since his retirement, Flair has appeared on WWE TV from time-to-time, most memorably as the catalyst behind Batista and Triple H’s WrestleMania 35 bout in 2019.
