WWE Release Zelina Vega

WWE announced Friday evening that Zelina Vega had been released from the promotion.

The company wrote, “WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Though not clear if related, Vega tweeted minutes before her release, “I support unionization.”

Vega was recently drafted to the SmackDown brand, where real-life husband Aleister Black wrestles. She had spent the majority of her time on the main roster on Raw, managing Andrade (and later Angel Garza). Throughout much of 2020, Vega managed the two in Raw Tag Team title pursuits against The Street Profits.

Vega debuted on NXT in 2017, as a business associate of Andrade's. There, she managed him to an NXT title victory over Drew McIntyre. She also challenged for the Raw Women's title in 2020, falling short to champion Asuka.

Vega has also been active on third party media services, including Twitch, and recently launched an OnlyFans account. WWE has received criticism for their demanding of talents and staff to cease relationships with third-party outlets.
