Over Friday and Saturday this past weekend, several wrestlers were released from WWE. The latest batch of those being let go from the company includes Sonya Deville, Akam & Rezar of the AOP, Paul Ellering, Blair Davenport, Cedric Alexander, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson of the Good Brothers, Isla Dawn and Giovanni Vinci.
Letting go of this many wrestlers leaves a lot of room on the rosters of Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown, and WWE is looking to fill those spots in the near future. Fightful Select have provided some more details on this batch of releases and the reasons behind it, with the belief of those in NXT currently being that the releases are due to the next back of NXT call-ups that are expected within 2025.
The current top stars in NXT have been dominating the brand for some time, including champions and former champions in Roxanne Perez, Trick Williams, Oba Femi and more, with many fans expecting to see them on the main roster over the next year. It was around this time last year that the likes of Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes and Tiffany Stratton were called up to the main roster, so this could be a trend of the new regime in WWE for WrestleMania season to be the time to ease in new talents.
