Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin celebrate a victory whilst holding championship belts in an AEW ring.

News emerged of several WWE releases over the weekend, including Cedric Alexander, Sonya Deville, Akam & Rezar of the AOP, Paul Ellering and Blair Davenport. These releases follow NXT’s Duke Hudson being let go earlier in the week. Aside from Deville, who was informed that WWE would not be renewing her deal upon its expiration, each of the other wrestlers likely have 90-day non-compete clauses.

Alexander was the first one to issue a public statement, thanking WWE for the eight and a half years he spent signed to the company on X, and promised that he would continue wrestling when his 90 days expires.

When it comes to his future, Fightful Select have provided some potential insight into where his next steps in the professional wrestling world may take him. It is reportedly noted by AEW sources that members of The Hurt Syndicate (MVP and AEW World Tag Team Champions Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) are expected to make a push for AEW to sign Alexander.

During their time in WWE, Alexander worked alongside MVP, Lashley and Benjamin as part of The Hurt Business, who proved to be a very popular act. Alexander was one half of the RAW Tag Team Champions alongside Benjamin.
