WWE Reportedly Planning Return To Live NXT Tapings In September

The brand will pre-tape three episodes next week

WWE will reportedly return to producing weekly NXT shows live from mid-September.

WWE is set to tape three episodes of NXT next week, following NXT TakeOver 36, leading to speculation that the promotion will be moving back into pre-recording the black-and-gold brand on a permanent basis.

However, PWInsider is reporting that the decision to tape some upcoming episodes of NXT is only a temporary one, and WWE will return to live NXT episodes on the USA Network from Tuesday 14 September.

NXT is rumoured to be undergoing significant changes in coming weeks, amid a reported mandate from higher-ups in WWE that the brand return to being a developmental system for the main roster as opposed to its own, standalone division.

There is a belief that NXT will go back to building younger, larger superstars in order to try and make them worthy of main-eventing WrestleManias in years to come, as opposed to working with already established talent.

WWE released another 13 names from NXT just under two weeks ago, including former North American Champions Bronson Reed and Leon Ruff and former NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish.
