WWE Still Interested In Tama Tonga

Tama Tonga to WWE?

An upcoming free agent may well end up signing with WWE.

WWE have been interested in signing Tama Tonga for a number of years and the four-time NEVER Openweight Champion was first offered the chance to jump to WWE in 2016, an offer Tonga turned down to team with brother Tanga Loa in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. WWE then approached Tama Tonga again in 2023 but the Bullet Club founder opted to remain with NJPW again.

Tama Tonga will leave New Japan at the end of January, though, and the 41-year-old announced he would be stepping away from the promotion in order to spend more time at home with his family. Tonga made the announcement following his fourth NEVER Openweight Title win at Wrestle Kingdom 18. He has since dropped the belt to EVIL at the New Beginning in Nagoya.

Having previously been in talks with Tama Tonga on two occasions, WWE may well move for him again as the company remain interested in signing Tonga, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Tama Tonga isn't the only upcoming free agent that WWE are interested in signing. Kazuchika Okada recently announced he will be leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling in February and All Elite Wrestling and WWE are battling over his signature
