WWE SummerSlam 2026 Not Expected To Be Brock Lesnar's Retirement Match

While the belief since December 2025, including within WWE, had been that Brock Lesnar would retire from professional wrestling at SummerSlam 2026, that no longer appears to be the case.

The feeling within WWE ahead of SummerSlam, according to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, is that Brock Lesnar's Hell in a Cell Match with Oba Femi is not expected to be the final match of Lesnar's career. It was even noted by one source they would be surprised if Brock didn't step away following SummerSlam before resurfacing ahead of WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.

While Brock Lesnar often keeps his plans close to his chest, if SummerSlam does end up being his final match, it isn't something widely known about or discussed backstage within WWE.

Brock Lesnar originally looked to have retired following his loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42, leaving his MMA gloves and boots in the ring before embracing Paul Heyman and waving to the crowd, but it was promptly revealed to simply be a pro wrestling angle and Lesnar has continued to feud with Oba Femi.

While they are on-screen rivals, behind the scenes Lesnar is actually mentoring Oba Femi, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H revealed this week. Triple H also noted that Lesnar will ultimately retire when he wishes to do so.

"I’ve known him personally for that 20+ years. The one thing that I know more than anything else about Brock Lesnar is Brock Lesnar is gonna do whatever Brock Lesnar wants to do," Paul Levesque stated on ESPN First Take.
