WWE's Booker T Believes Dave Meltzer Should Be On AEW's Payroll

WWE commentator Booker T believes Dave Meltzer should be on All Elite Wrestling’s payroll.

Meltzer is a divisive figure in the world of wrestling, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor known to have close relationships with wrestlers in promotions all over the planet. However, it is no secret that Meltzer is close with several high-ranking talents within AEW, drawing accusations of favourable reporting about the company.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker pondered whether Meltzer is employed by AEW:

"Maybe he's looking for a job, maybe he's on the payroll, I don't know,” said Booker T. "You can get ticked off listening to some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth when he's talking about AEW, like I said, you swear he's on the payroll. And if he's not on the payroll, he should be on the payroll just because I've sat and I've watched that show and sometimes I feel like they could be doing a whole lot, not sometimes, I feel like they could be doing so much better and I'm going to leave it at that because it's not my thing."

It's worth noting that WWE were accused of running a campaign to deliberately discredit Meltzer in 2024.

Booker T's comments also come after he was voted the worst announcer in the 2024 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. The awards are voted by readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
