The future of the X-Division is set to be shaped at IMPACT Slammiversary 2023 on July 15, with the X-Division Title scheduled to be on the line at the show, as well as a five-way Ultimate X match to determine a future contender for the title.

X-Division Champion Chris Sabin is set to put the title on the line against New Japan’s Lio Rush, a first time singles meeting between the two. Rush made his intentions clear on the June 29 edition of IMPACT Wrestling, clocking Sabin from behind with the title during a show ending brawl between The Motor City Machine Guns, Rush, and Nick Aldis.

The return of the Ultimate X Match was also announced on IMPACT Wrestling, with "Speedball" Mike Bailey, Jonathan Gresham, Angels, Kevin Knight, and KUSHIDA set to battle it out for a future shot at the X-Division Championship. Only Bailey has competed in an Ultimate X before.
