The WWE release of Zelina Vega continues to be a hot topic within the wrestling industry.

WWE released Vega (real name Thea Trinidad) last week after she had failed to comply with an edict to close accounts on third-party media platforms like Twitch and Cameo.

Trinidad has a huge following on social media and was reportedly making more money from her Twitch account than she did as a WWE Superstar.

Her decision to open a (non-nude) OnlyFans account was the last straw and led to her dismissal, according to WWE.

Minutes before news of her release broke online, Trinidad tweeted "I support unionization".

After her release, she was publicly supported and approached for talks by Gabrielle Carteris, President of SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists).

Now, it appears as though the two have met, with the official SAG-AFTRA Twitter account writing "Powerful conversation with Thea Trinidad @Zelina_VegaWWE today. We support her and others as they work to protect and empower themselves".

Trinidad responded by saying "Very powerful indeed, thank you all for the pleasant conversation and insight".

The issue of unionisation and WWE's classification of their performers as 'independent contractor's has become highlighted in recent times, with former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang claiming he would work with President-elect Joe Biden to end the classification.
