Following the reintroduction of the brand split in 2016 which made the WWE Women's Championship exclusive to Raw, WWE created the SmackDown Women's Title for the blue brand.
The SmackDown Women's Title remained the top title in the women's division on SmackDown until 2023 when WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H moved away from naming titles after the brand they were defended on, with the belt being rechristened as the Women's World Championship.
The former SmackDown Women's Title then became exclusive to Raw following the 2023 WWE Draft.
