How many tickets WWE actually sold for WrestleMania 40 has been revealed. 

WrestleMania XL emanated from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. Records from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission obtained by Wrestlenomics have revealed that 56,147 tickets were sold for WrestleMania 40 night one, while a further 3,889 tickets were given away for free, bringing the total for night one to 60,036. It is unknown if the figures provided by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission included suites in the stadium or credentialed media, but WWE announced an attendance of 72,543 during the WrestleMania 40 night one broadcast. 

For night two, WWE sold 56,758 tickets and 3,445 tickets were given away to provide a total figure of 60,203. WWE announced the attendance for night two as 72,755. 

Altogether, WWE announced an attendance of 145,298 fans across the two nights while the actual number of tickets distributed was 120,239. WWE have typically inflated their attendance numbers throughout the company's history. 

Regardless, WrestleMania 40 holds the all-time pro wrestling gate record for a single-day event as WrestleMania XL night two generated $18,433,325.39. This beat WrestleMania 40 night one, which held the record for one night with a gate of $17,656,964.62. The record was previously held by 2016's WrestleMania 32.
