AEW: Dynamite Results - October 27 2021

A spooky night of action from AEW

As Full Gear creeps ever closer things are starting to hot up leading into AEW’s last super show of 2021. Progress in the men’s World Title Eliminator tournament and women’s TBS Title tournament, a TNT Championship match, never mind ever increasing tensions between The Super Elite and The Dark Order, this week’s Dynamite was a packed affair.

All eyes were on Kenny Omega and his AEW World Title, especially now that a fired up Hangman Page is breathing down his neck. Omega was in a jovial mood though, as he and The SuperKliq donned the proton packs and dressed as the Ghostbusters (accompanied by Brandon Cutler as The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Nakazawa) to take on Dark Order’s Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Colt Cabana and hungie John Silver in fancy dress eight-man tag action.

The Elite dominated proceedings, until referee Rick Knox was taken out of commission. Low blows and a huge powerbomb levelled Cabana, but when The Elite pummelled and unmasked Dark Order's pantomime horse to find it was a kidnapped Brandon Cutler, it became clear there was a stranger in the Stay Puft costume. Of course it was Hangman Page, and the crowd erupted as he finally took Matt Jackson’s head off with a lariat and gave Omega a Deadeye, as John Silver hit Spin Doctor on Matt for the win.

Jon Moxley took another step towards the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament final as he decimated a battered and bloody Preston Vance. Moxley was in a foul mood, as The Unscripted former world champion unleashed more of the nasty side that’s been creeping out in recent weeks. He takes on Orange Cassidy in the semis finals.

In the TBS Title Tournament Hikaru Shida got retribution, defeating Serena Deeb to advance to the next round. Deeb used every trick in the book to try and get under Shida’s skin but it was no use, as the former AEW Women’s World Champion got her 50th AEW victory via roll-up. Deeb was understandably fuming, and attacked Shida post-match, as this feud looks like it’s set to continue.

On the same day that ROH announced their hiatus, it was fitting that the show opened with former ROH sons CM Punk and Bobby Fish kicking seven shades of s*** out of one another. As has been the case with Punk in AEW, he withstood a torrent of abuse, but his veteran instincts kicked in as he secured the victory.

And of course what’s an episode of Dynamite without Cody Rhodes cutting a promo with zero self awareness? The American Nightmare was soundly booed by the crowd as he bared his soul, talking about his family, and Arn, and saying he will never turn on the fans. Andrade interrupted him, then Malakai Black turned up to wreck house, until PAC made the save. Seems like we may have a tag bout on the horizon, but what are Cody’s true intentions?

Elsewhere: MJF defeated a local competitor then ran down Darby Allin on the mic, before Darby and Sting battered MJF and associates, making their singles match at Full Gear official. Sammy Guevara squeaked out a win against Ethan Page, before Inner Circle vs American Top team in a 10-man Minneapolis Street Fight was made for Full Gear. And also at Full Gear, FTR and Lucha Brothers will face off for the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
