NFL Teams Reaching Out To Gable Steveson Following His WWE Release

Gable Steveson to the NFL?

Could Gable Steveson find his way onto an NFL team before the start of the 2024 season?

The Olympic gold medallist had been a part of WWE since 2021 but Steveson was released last week as part of cuts to NXT, with the 23-year-old believed to have been commanding a high salary while failing to impress within the company.

Steveson's manager Dave Martin has since issued a statement about his release to Ariel Helwani of the MMA Hour

"Gable Steveson is very grateful for the opportunities he had with WWE and would like to thank everybody in the organisation who helped him get there. He would also like to thank all the fans who have supported him on his professional wrestling journey. Now, Gable is ready to resume competing against elite-level competition and looks forward to sharing big news with you all very soon," the statement read.

Helwani then noted that multiple NFL teams have reached out to Steveson, saying: "I can tell you, via Dave (Martin), that multiple NFL teams have reached out to Gable Steveson. He does have that extra year of eligibility and he's also been training at Kill Cliff FC with Henry Hooft and Robbie Lawler."

At least two NFL teams are interested in inviting Steveson to mini-camp, Helwani added.

Gable Steveson arrived in WWE with plenty of hype but the 23-year-old only ended up having one televised match, a much-maligned outing against Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash 2023 during which the crowd cheered for Corbin and booed Steveson.
