Report: AEW, Lita Held Talks In 2021

Lita is scheduled for this year's Royal Rumble

AEW was at one time in talks with Lita to bring her in for a high-profile match, according to a report from Fightful Select.

The report states that AEW reached out to Lita in 2021 for a program with reigning AEW Women's champion Dr. Britt Baker. The two sides reportedly discussed the creative aspects of the angle, with September's All Out as the possible match destination, but were unable to come to terms.

Fightful's report goes on to say that the things "ended up on a positive note" between AEW and Lita, and there's always the possibility of the two sides coming together in the future.

Lita appeared on Friday night's SmackDown in Omaha, marking her first appearance on the program in nearly two decades. The appearance was to hype her participation in the women's Royal Rumble match in two weeks.

During her return segment, Lita got into a war of words with SmackDown Women's champion Charlotte Flair, which concluded with Lita giving Flair the Twist of Fate.

After retiring from the ring in 2006, Lita has wrestled in only six matches. Three of them took place in WWE in 2018 (one of which was the inaugural women's Royal Rumble match).
