Report: Bryan Danielson To Stop Being A Full-Time Wrestler In The Next Year
Fans should catch The American Dragon while they can.
On the September 9 episode of AEW Collision, Bryan Danielson announced that he would be finishing up his career once his six-year-old daughter turns seven.
According to Sports Illustrated (citing people close to the situation), the 42-year-old will indeed be stepping away from wrestling full-time in the next year. He will, however, remain a special attraction for AEW. A devoted family man, Danielson has made no secret of his desire to spend more time at home with his children as they grow up.
Per a recent report, the former WWE and ROH Champion's backstage influence continues to grow in Tony Khan's promotion and it remains to be seen if Danielson will transition to a full-time backstage role.
Also on Collision, 'The American Dragon' challenged New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Zack Sabre Jr. to a match at AEW's WrestleDream pay-per-view on October 1. The bout - which will take place in Danielson's hometown of Seattle, Washington - was subsequently confirmed.
Danielson returned to in-ring action following a four-month injury layoff at the All Out pay-per-view, where he defeated Ricky Starks in a Strap Match.
