Rey Fenix Not Medically Cleared Only Days After AEW Return

Rey Fenix out of action again

Rey Fenix looks to be on the shelf again.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion made his return to the ring on the April 27 edition of Collision, defeating The Beast Mortos in a critically acclaimed match. Fenix had been out of action since he dropped the AEW International Championship to Orange Cassidy on October 10, 2023, with Fenix noting shortly after that he was recovering from the worst injury of his career.

Fenix was scheduled to face his brother Penta El Zero Miedo at House of Glory's Cinco de Mayo event on Sunday, May 5. Penta came to the ring during the show, however, and announced that Fenix was not medically cleared to wrestle on the show. Penta instead faced Laredo Kid in the main event of the HOG show.

The exact nature of Fenix's new issue is unknown. The Lucha Brothers and Death Triangle have been plagued by injuries in recent years, and the trio of PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Rey Fenix haven't all teamed together since January 2023 when they finished up their Best of Seven series with The Elite over the AEW World Trios Titles.
