Seth Rollins Scheduled For Next Week's WWE SmackDown

His first appearance on the show in months

After returning at Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view as part of the 30-man main event, Seth Rollins will make his formal return to WWE SmackDown on next Friday's broadcast.

The announcement was made during Friday night's program. It will be Rollins' first appearance on SmackDown since last November.

There is no word on what Rollins will be doing on Friday's broadcast.

Prior to the Rumble, Rollins' last appearance on WWE programming was at November's Survivor Series. There, he took a "sacrificial" elimination in the men's five on five Survivor Series match at the hands of Sheamus. This was done as a means of writing Rollins off of television prior to the birth of he and Becky Lynch's daughter in December.

Rollins entered Sunday's Rumble from the number 29 spot. He was part of four eliminations (including Daniel Bryan, Matt Riddle, Christian, and Braun Strowman), and ultimately finished third after being eliminated by eventual winner Edge.

Previously, Rollins had been advertised for the New Year's Day edition of SmackDown, but WWE scrapped those plans for unknown reasons.
