Two Titles Matches Announced For WWE Backlash

WWE have announced two title matches for the Backlash 2023 PPV

Backlash 2023 on May 6 is only two weeks away, so WWE have decided to finally allow the card to take shape after only a few announced matches thus far. On the April 21 WWE SmackDown, the company was busy confirming matches for the card, including two huge title matches.

After weeks of growing tensions between the Judgment Day and Latino World Order factions, Zelina Vega will represent not only her faction but also Puerto Rico as she managed to convince Adam Pearce to book a match between her and Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Additionally, Austin Theory will be forced to defend his United States Championship in a triple threat match against two monsters in Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed. Following a match between Lashley and Theory on Raw, Reed laid the pair out, causing a no contest, which laid the groundwork for this encounter.

With these two announcements, the Backlash 2023 card looks like this;

  • The Bloodline (The Usos & Solo Sikoa) vs. Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, & Matt Riddle
  • Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Zelina Vega - SmackDown Women’s Championship
  • Austin Theory (c) vs. Bronson Reed vs. Bobby Lashley - United States Championship
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Seth Rollins vs. Omos
