WWE Championship Match Set For Clash At The Castle 2024

Cody Rhodes' opponent for WWE's Clash at the Castle has apparently been confirmed.

The Undisputed WWE Championship match at Clash at the Castle will again be Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles, according to a report by FWOnline which states:

“The Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles title match is scheduled for Clash at the Castle in Glasgow. It may be announced tonight, if not on Friday.”

This statement was made by Dave Meltzer before last night's Raw, and while no match announcement was made on the show, it would make sense if such a reveal was saved for Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown.

Both Rhodes and Styles are current SmackDown Superstars, and last Friday's edition of the show saw AJ attack the champion after falsely hinting at retirement (a nod to Mark Henry's similar angle with John Cena in 2013.)

Since Cody won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, he has had just one broadcast title defence - a singles match against Styles at last month's Backlash France PLE. Their first match seemed to receive generally positive reviews online, as did the fake retirement angle last week, so a rematch for AJ would likely go down well with the majority of viewers.

As we await official announcement, the rest of the currently-confirmed Clash at the Castle card is as follows:

  • Damian Priest (c) vs. Drew McIntyre - World Heavyweight Championship
  • Bayley (c) vs. Piper Niven - WWE Women's Championship
  • Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable - Intercontinental Championship

Clash at the Castle 2024 is set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland on June 15.
