Adam Copeland Suffers Broken Leg At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024

Adam Copeland breaks his leg at AEW Double or Nothing

Adam Copeland suffered a major injury at AEW Double or Nothing, breaking his leg during the Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match against Malakai Black.

It emerged following Double or Nothing that Copeland was being checked out by AEW's medical team and the former Edge has since confirmed in an X (FKA Twitter) video that he sustained a fractured tibia on Sunday night. Copeland will require surgery but he is unsure how long he will be out of action.

"I need to make better choices so my body pulled the emergency brake on me the other night. I ended up fracturing my tibia, which is gonna require surgery. I don't know the time frame on that yet," Copeland said.

Copeland noted he suffered the injury because he "got cocky" after "having so much fun in the ring" while a part of All Elite Wrestling. The 50-year-old sustained the broken leg after he dived from the top of the cage to put Malakai Black through a barbed wire table. Copeland landed on his feet, however, and he was able to continue with the match but the TNT Champion was noticeably hobbling following the contest.

The NHS notes that severe tibia fractures can take between three and six months to fully heal, possibly longer. A minor fracture can heel after six to eight weeks.

The future of the TNT Championship is unknown as of the time of writing.
