AEW: Dynamite - March 24 2021: The Pinnacle’s In Ring Debut

AEW: Dynamite was once again live from Daily’s Place. The show kicked off with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega taking on Matt Sydal. If Sydal wins, he gets a title shot. Sydal used his speed to get advantage, but Omega had him scouted, using his power and strength advantage to keep the challenger at bay. After some good back-and-forth action, Omega nailed the One Winged Angel for the win.

Alex Marvez was then backstage in the Dark Order clubhouse ahead of John Silver’s main event TNT Title match against Darby Allin. Johnny said he’s hungee, before Adam Page told him no matter the outcome the Dark Order will be proud of him.

Page was then in action against Cezar Bononi, hitting the Buckshot Lariat for a quick win. We then heard from Lance Archer, who said that while Sting is an icon whom he respects, it’s Archer’s time now.

Tony Schiavone caught up with Britt Baker after last week’s historic main event Lights Out match against Thunder Rosa. Baker took umbrage at Rosa saying she put women’s wrestling on the map, and if that’s so, then why is everyone talking about Britt Baker and not Thunder Rosa? Baker then thanked Mick Foley for the thumbs up, but said it took him 20 years to become a hardcore legend, but it only took her one night.

Christian Cage was backstage giving advice to The Varsity Blonds and Dante Martin, before Frankie Kazarian turned up. The two had some friendly banter, before Kaz asked when Cage was going to start work? Cage challenged Kaz to a match next week.

The Pinnacle then took to the ring for their first official match as a group, with FTR and Shawn Spears defeating The Varsity Blonds and Dante Martin in six-man action. The end came after Spears hit Martin with the C4 for the win.

Post-match The Pinnacle attacked the faces, before Cash Wheeler took the mic. Wheeler said these men are his family, then Dax Harwood took the mic to proclaim FTR are better than Santana and Ortiz, and that the Inner Circle need to focus less on comedy, and more on wrestling. MJF rounded off the segment by mocking Chris Jericho’s weight and saying the Inner Circle are terrified. Wardlow intimidated Tony Schiavone, as MJF closed out the segment.

Team Taz were shown backstage. Taz said Brian Cage apologised for his remarks last week praising Sting. Team Taz all said they were good, with Cage hesitating before saying his peace.

QT Marshall took to the mic with Tony Schiavone to explain his frustrations. Marshall said no matter what he does in ring or in the back, everyone just sees him as ‘Cody’s friend’ and he wants out of Rhodes’ shadow, and the only way to do that is to take Cody on in an exhibition match. Cody came out to say QT is a great guy and that the match is on for next week, with Arn Anderson as referee.

More six-man tag action next as The Lucha Bros and Laredo Kid took on The Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler. The six went back and forth all over the ring and ringside area, with both teams showcasing crisp offence. The end came as Laredo Kid hit a huge Spanish Fly on Cutler for the win, as the other men were fighting outside the ring.

Post-match Kenny Omega ran in to attack Laredo Kid. Omega told the Bucks that three years ago at Fyter Fest he ignored his home, and offers from ‘New York’ to make a choice. But he didn’t choose AEW, he chose The Young Bucks. Omega said The Bucks never chose him back, and gave them one last chance to Too Sweet Kenny. The Bucks turned their back on Omega and left, as The Lucha Bros attacked Omega. The Good Brothers ran out to make the save.

Jade Cargill had a video package where she called out Red Velvet, continuing their feud. We then cut backstage to Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley. Eddie’s foot is in plaster, and he says he’s broken things before but it doesn’t matter. Moxley asked The Good Brothers how far are they willing to go? Moxley then turned his attention to The Young Bucks, saying he owes them for saving him last week, but he doesn’t like owing people, and he doesn’t like The Bucks. “If you’re going to be in the game you better be willing to get your hands dirty.”

Nyla Rose took on number one contender to the AEW Women’s Title Tay Conti in a back-and-forth match. Conti used her judo and BJJ background to overcome Rose’s strength, and got the surprise win with the hammerlock DDTay. Post-match Rose attacked Conti before Hikaru Shida made the save with the kendo stick. The Bunny Allie then attacked Shida with the stick, as Matt Hardy and his ‘Hardy Family Office’ said the Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament was a sham because Bunny wasn’t a participant. Hardy then said his clients have been overlooked for too long and it all changes now.

Miro, Kip Sabian, Chuck Taylor, and Orange Cassidy hyped their Arcade Anarchy match for next week, then we had a quick video from Scorpio Sky. Sky said he hasn’t changed, we’re just seeing this side of him for the first time. Sky hyped his match with Mike Sydal on the upcoming episode of Dark: Elevation, then said “I’m more than one man, I’m the face of the revolution.”

Our main event saw Darby Allin defend the TNT Title against John Silver. Silver had the advantage for the majority of the match, using his power and strength to throw Allin around. Allin took out the Dark Order with a huge Coffin Drop as Sting watched on, before reversing a Brodie Lee powerbomb by Silver into a roll-up for the win.

Post-match Darby and Silver fistbumped before Matt Hardy and the Hardy Family Office attacked. Sting and The Dark Order brawled with Hardy’s crew, as Tay Conti ran in to attack The Bunny. Darby and Hardy brawled as Dynamite went off the air.
