AEW Star Cody Files To Trademark His WWE Ring Name
The American Nightmare is looking to commandeer his in-ring surname...
Since leaving WWE in 2016, Cody Rhodes has often refrained from using his last name for fear of legal action by WWE. In All Elite Wrestling he is announced as Cody, but this could be set to change. WWE's trademark expired back on October 13, 2019 but the wrestling behemoth failed to reapply during the six-month grace period, which allowed The American Nightmare to snap up the trademark on April 13.
Cody applied to use the name for merchandise purposes, but also inside the squared circle which would suggest that "Cody Rhodes" will debut in AEW very soon.
The full trademark can be read below:
