Report: Former NFL Star Rob Gronkowski Close To Signing With WWE

During his nine-year career, Rob Gronkowski enjoyed enormous success in the NFL. He is considered one of the best of all time at the Tight End position, and his partnership with Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to three Super Bowl victories. After retiring ahead of the 2019 season, Gronk followed in the footsteps of Tony Romo and went into broadcasting and he has worked as an analyst on FOX Sports ever since. 

Now, Gronk looks set to enter another line of work as Ryan Satin reported on WWE Backstage that the former New England Patriot is close to signing with WWE. How Gronk will be used in the company is not currently known, but Satin did reveal that he could make his debut as early as the March 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Gronkowski does have history inside a WWE ring as he helped his friend Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33. Since his appearance, the Super Bowl winner has expressed interest in joining WWE. However, he told Brent Brookhouse at CBS Sports that he would not like to take on a full-time schedule and would instead prefer to just have "one crazy match."
